What is a wastewater pumping station?

Wastewater pumping station with one electric pump

A pumping station is used to regulate wastewater flow and provide extra pressure when natural gravity flow is not available.

Our pumping stations are prefabricated and ready to use. Models for residential use are rotomoulded with 100% virgin high-density polyethylene (HDPE). Models for commercial, municipal, and industrial civil works are made with glass-reinforced plastic (GRP).

We offer a wide range of configurations. Our models are fitted with built-in electrical control panels, valves, on/off floats, and level-detection alarms. They can also be fitted with up to three electric pumps, both single-phase and three-phase.

Our pumping stations for municipal or industrial use come with a guide-bar system for easy removal and easy coupling with docking stations.

How do our wastewater pumping stations work?

Pumping station with dual pump functionality

Our pumping stations operate automatically thanks to a simple float system and the supplied control panel.

Each pumping station has an on/off float that moves up and down as wastewater levels change inside the tank. When the float rises to a predetermined level, the pump begins to run. When the wastewater level falls, the on/off float moves down and the pump stops.

If the incoming flow exceeds what the pump can flush out, or if the pump breaks down, the rising wastewater level will trigger the high-level alarm.

For dual-pump systems, the pumps work in an alternating sequence under normal conditions. When the flow rate increases, both pumps can work at the same time.

Choosing the proper pump depends on the design flow rate and the pump head. We recommend that you contact our team to select the right equipment for your needs.

Wastewater pumping station maintenance

Premier Tech recommends that you follow maintenance instructions according to the model installed. Protect your investment, maximise its service life, and maintain your warranty by having your system regularly inspected.

If your pumping station is installed with a septic tank, we recommend that you have both systems pumped out at the same time.
