What is UV disinfection for wastewater treatment?

The Rewatec UV disinfection system is a tertiary wastewater treatment solution.

It uses ultraviolet (UV) radiation to remove a long list of wastewater pathogens such as fecal coliforms, viruses, bacteria, and fungi, plus parasites like cryptosporidium and giardia.

The system is installed downstream from a secondary treatment unit, such as our Ecoflo biofilter, which reduces concentrations of organic pollutants and suspended solids.

Because reusing wastewater for non-potable applications is becoming increasingly important, the system's effluent can be reused for garden irrigation or surface cleaning (in accordance with local regulations).

Treated wastewater can also be safely sent into nearby waterways.

Premier Tech designed the Rewatec UV disinfection system especially for residential and small-flow projects. If you need a larger model, our engineering team can customize a solution based on your specific needs.

How do our UV disinfection systems work?

The Rewatec UV disinfection system is a compact solution installed after a biological treatment system, such as our Ecoflo biofilter (for models up to 20 PE).

The system receives wastewater by gravity. An integrated pump then passes it through a UV lamp that destroys any remaining pathogens.

With all hydraulic and electrical connections made at the factory, installation is quick and easy and the equipment is ready for use.

Stable and effective performance make the Rewatec UV disinfection unit the solution of choice for domestic or larger-scale projects.

 

UV disinfection system maintenance

Premier Tech has an in-house team of experts trained to maximize the lifespan of your Rewatec UV disinfection unit.

When a technician performs maintenance, they will:

  • replace the UV lamp (when necessary)
  • collect samples to check treatment performance (when necessary)
  • check the status of the pump, probes, and filter
  • clean or replace the quartz sleeve
  • check for system faults and active alarms
  • test the alarm float to prevent unit flooding

Rewatec UV disinfection system warranty

The Rewatec UV disinfection system has a 5-year warranty for the tank, provided that our instructions for use have been correctly followed. We also offer a 1-year warranty for the pump, floats, and UV components.

These warranties (legal and commercial) apply from the date of product installation.
