Kill wastewater pathogens with Rewatec UV disinfection, the safe and reliable tertiary treatment solution for projects where effluent is discharged directly into a ditch or watercourse.

What is UV disinfection?

Ultraviolet (UV) disinfection is the ideal wastewater treatment solution for projects that need to safely discharge effluent into nearby ditches or watercourses.

Specially designed for residential, business, and community projects, the Rewatec UV disinfection system reliably eliminates a long list of wastewater pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, moulds, and parasites like cryptosporidium and giardia.

The results speak for themselves: total protection for your property, the environment, and public health.

Why are UV rays passed through wastewater?

Many wastewater treatment systems discharge effluent underground. As wastewater percolates through subsurface dispersal areas, any remaining pollutants are naturally removed before they reach the groundwater below.

Systems that discharge effluent directly into a ditch or watercourse do not have the benefit of this final treatment step. They must rely on other means of disinfecting wastewater to keep contaminants out of the environment.

The Rewatec UV disinfection system is the right technology for the job. Using no chemicals and producing no harmful disinfection byproducts (DBPs), it reliably kills wastewater pathogens to protect your property, the environment, and public health.

How do our UV disinfection units work for homes and cottages?

Secondary treatment

The residential Rewatec UV disinfection system is often integrated with our Ecoflo biofilter, the most sustainable septic solution in the industry.

Wastewater passes through the biofilter, percolating through an all-natural filtering medium that traps and removes pollutants.

Tertiary treatment and dispersal

Treated wastewater is then pumped into the Rewatec UV disinfection unit, which, depending on the model, contains one or two lamps that produce UV radiation.

The radiation reliably kills viruses and fecal coliforms (bacteria) that can be harmful to public health and the environment. The radiation also destroys the DNA of cryptosporidium and giardia, parasites that cause gastrointestinal illnesses in humans.

After disinfection, the unit pumps treated wastewater downstream, where it is safely discharged into a ditch or watercourse.

Our residential UV disinfection units send instant Wi-Fi alerts. If there is a problem with your system, a service team will follow up on it in less than 24 hours. Guaranteed.

How do our UV disinfection units work for businesses and communities?

Secondary treatment

For commercial, community, municipal, or industrial projects, our Rewatec UV disinfection system is often used with another of our proven treatment technologies:

Wastewater passes through one of these secondary treatment systems before it is pumped into an aboveground or underground UV disinfection system.

Tertiary treatment and dispersal

The disinfection unit contains two UV lamps. Radiation from the lamps reliably eliminates viruses and fecal coliforms (bacteria) that can harm public health and the environment. It also destroys parasites that cause gastrointestinal illnesses in humans.

After disinfection, the unit pumps treated wastewater downstream, where it is safely discharged into a ditch or watercourse.

UV disinfection unit maintenance for homes and cottages

We have a network of local service partners, annually trained by us to maximize the life of your Rewatec UV disinfection system.

When a technician performs maintenance, they will:

  • replace the UV lamp (when required)
  • collect samples to verify treatment performance (when required)
  • clean the unit’s filter to protect internal components
  • check for system faults and active alarms
  • test the alarm float to prevent flooding in the unit
