UV disinfection system for stream discharge
Where permitted, UV disinfection allows you to discharge treated wastewater to a stream or ditch. No drain field required.
What is a UV disinfection septic system?
A drain field is a key component in most septic systems. But it may not be possible if your property has:
- limited space
- poor soils or high bedrock
- high water tables
- strict regulations to protect nearby bodies of water
Our UV disinfection system (DiUV) is designed for exactly this situation — no drain field required.
It uses ultraviolet light to destroy harmful bacteria, viruses, and parasites in wastewater, making it safe to discharge treated water directly into a nearby stream or ditch.

How does UV disinfection fit into your septic system?
Our UV disinfection system is the final stage of a three-step treatment process:
- Septic tank
Your septic tank receives wastewater from your home and separates solids from liquid waste. - Ecoflo compact biofilter
Our advanced treatment system traps and removes wastewater pollutants with an all-natural coco filter. - UV disinfection unit
The unit uses UV light to destroy any remaining pathogens before discharging treated wastewater into a stream or ditch.
In many residential installations, the UV unit is integrated directly inside the Ecoflo compact biofilter tank. That means you get advanced filtration and disinfection in a single compact footprint.
Who supplies and installs the UV disinfection unit?

What does owning our stream discharge septic system involve long term?
Like all advanced systems, our UV disinfection septic system needs regular care to maintain its performance.
| Service | Frequency | Estimated cost |
| Septic tank pumping | Depends on the size of your tank and how many people use it | Starting at $350 |
| Ecoflo compact biofilter maintenance | Annual | Starting at $220 |
| UV disinfection unit maintenance | Annual | Starting at $420 |
Whenever possible, we plan UV disinfection and Ecoflo compact biofilter maintenance at the same time.
During each annual visit, our technician will replace the UV lamp, clean the internal components, and check the system for faults. If your local regulations require it, they will also collect a sample to verify treatment performance.
We hold parts directly and handle warranty questions in-house. One team, responsible for everything.
