What is an Ecoflo filter renewal?
The coconut husk filter inside your Ecoflo compact biofilter treats your wastewater every day. It's durable, but it doesn't last forever.
In most cases, your filter has a lifespan of up to 15 years before it reaches the end of its useful life and needs to be renewed. With proper use and maintenance, it may last even longer.
A renewal means we remove the old coco filter from your system and install new, factory-supplied coconut husk fragments.
Your Ecoflo compact biofilter stays exactly where it is. No new tank, no excavation, and no damage to your landscaping.
Once the renewal is complete, your system returns to day-one performance — and the original warranty on its wastewater treatment automatically resets.
When do you need an Ecoflo filter renewal?
Ecoflo coco filters don't have a universal expiry date.
Every compact biofilter installation is different. Your site conditions, household water use, and how you care for your system all affect how long your filter lasts.
We assess your filter's condition during routine maintenance visits and analyze the results over time. When our data shows that a renewal is approaching, we reach out with everything you need to know — including how to get the process started.
If you've signed up for annual Ecoflo maintenance visits, we already have information on your filter and we'll let you know when it's time for a renewal.
If it's been a while since your last maintenance visit, or you're not sure whether you're up to date, it's worth getting in touch — we can review your system's history and let you know where things stand.
How we renew your Ecoflo filter
When we renew the coco filter in your Ecoflo compact biofilter, there is no excavation, no heavy machinery, and no disruption to your garden or landscaping.
Here's what to expect:
- Old filter removal
We open the lid of your Ecoflo compact biofilter and remove the old filter with a vacuum truck. Once the biofilter is empty, we inspect the internal components to confirm everything is in working order before the new filter goes in. - New filter installation
We arrive on site with new coconut husk fragments in sealed packaging. Our technicians add the material in stages, distributing it evenly inside the biofilter. This promotes optimal biofiltration and creates an ideal environment for bacterial activity. - Final check
Once the new filter is in place, we confirm your system is operational and close the Ecoflo compact biofilter lid. - Old filter disposal
When possible, we send your old filter to an organic waste facility. Because our filters are made with coco, they create excellent compost for reforestation and soil stabilization projects.
What an Ecoflo filter renewal costs
In most cases, an Ecoflo filter renewal costs between $3,000 and $4,000, depending on the location and accessibility of your property.
We'll always give you a clear quote before any work begins.
The cost covers:
- removal of the old filter by a trained technician
- supply of new patented coconut husk fragments from Premier Tech Water and Environment
- responsible disposal of the spent material at an approved facility
- automatic renewal of your Ecoflo system's original performance warranty
We understand that filter renewals can be a significant investment. But consider that most septic systems last 20 to 30 years before they fail and need to be fully replaced — with a price tag in the tens of thousands of dollars.
With Ecoflo filter renewals, you get day-one performance without ever needing to replace your system.
