Our robust and lightweight primary wastewater treatment tanks are the easy, reliable way to protect your property and the environment.

Solution for the primary treatment of wastewater in CE marked high density polyethylene tanks (HDPE)

What is a septic tank?

Septic tanks receive and treat domestic wastewater from residences that are not connected to a municipal sewage network.

With nominal capacities from 1,500 to 75,000 L, the Rewatec septic tanks are lightweight and perfect for any application. The pre-filter is factory assembled, simplifying the installation. The accessible lids facilitate maintenance and sludge emptying.

Rewatec septic tanks are rotomolded with 100% virgin high-density polyethylene (HDPE). For many models, tank welds are subject to exhaustive quality control checks to eliminate even the slightest possibility of leakage.

Millenium models are EN 12566-1 certified, due to their design and the high performance of the installed pre-filter. These models are compatible with any secondary treatment technology.

Typical applications

  • single-family homes
  • apartment buildings
  • office buildings
  • schools
  • small communities
  • golf courses

How do our septic tanks work?

Primary treatment

Domestic wastewater flows through a sewer pipe into the septic tank.

The septic tank allows wastewater to separate into three layers: scum, sludge, and liquids. It also significantly reduces the pollution load by way of bacterial anaerobic digestion.

Scum is made up of oils and greases that rise to the top of the septic tank. Sludge is made up of solids that settle on the bottom of the tank. Both scum and sludge should be removed every two or three years by a septic pumping expert.

Partially clarified liquids accumulate between the scum and sludge layers and exit the septic tank through an outlet pipe. This pipe is fitted with a built-in effluent pre-filter that captures suspended solids and prevents them from clogging downstream components.

The following pre-filters are used in our septic tanks:

Pre-filters PF-17
  • PF17: tank capacities up to 8,000 L
  • pre-filter with a built-in safety and cleaning system
PF-525
  • PF525: tank capacities of 10,000 L or more
  • pre-filter with safety system only

    Discharge options

Wastewater discharge is subject to the regulations in force in your area.

In most cases, wastewater seeps directly into the ground or enters one of the following secondary systems for further treatment:

For septic holding tanks, which have no outlet, raw wastewater remains in the tank and must be periodically pumped by a qualified service professional.

    Treatment performance

The performance of the Rewatec Millenium septic tank, fitted with a pre-filter and designed for standard residential wastewater:

    • COD reduction: 45 - 55%
    • BOD5 reduction: 35 - 40%
    • TSS reduction: 75 - 80%

    Septic tank maintenance

Premier Tech recommends that you follow maintenance instructions according to the model installed. Protect your investment, maximise its service life, and maintain your warranty by having your system regularly inspected.

The frequency of service depends on the size of your tank, the amount of wastewater your property generates, and the environmental regulations in your area. It is best to speak with a local professional to determine the service schedule that is right for you.

When your service provider visits your property, they should:

    • check for cracks or leaks in the tank
    • measure the scum and sludge layers
    • pump the septic tank, if necessary
    • clean the effluent filter in the outlet pipe
    • keep and update maintenance records for your system
    • explain any areas of concern
    • recommend next steps, if necessary
