You can contribute to putting off the replacement of your filtering media by following a few very simple rules!

1- Perform annual maintenance on the Ecoflo ®
Annual maintenance is an essential step in the effective functioning of the Ecoflo ®. Accordingly, the Ministère du Développement durable, de l’Environnement et des Parcs requires that the owner of a treatment system be bound by contract with the system’s manufacturer. An inspection of the system must be performed every year throughout the lifetime of the system. That is why, when you purchase an Ecoflo ® septic system, a preventive maintenance visit is included in the purchase price.
What does annual maintenance of the Ecoflo ® system consist of?
  • Inspection of the filtering media and Ecoflo ® components
  • Removal of all particles that could prevent the Ecoflo ® from working properly
  • Tilling the filtering media to ensure proper infiltration of wastewater

After each annual maintenance visit, a maintenance record is left at your residence. We recommend keeping it with the Owner’s Manual that you received upon purchase of the Ecoflo ®.

Who performs annual maintenance?

Our PT aqua network of partners inspects and maintains all installed Ecoflo ® systems and makes sure that you are offered incomparable technical support. In order to provide you with the best service, the installation and follow-up of your Ecoflo ® system are recorded in a database.

2- Pump out your septic tank periodically

The Ministère du Développement durable, de l’Environnement et des Parcs requires that a septic tank used seasonally be pumped out at least once every 4 years and that a septic tank used year-round be pumped out at least once every 2 years*.

*Depending on local regulations

3- Avoid discharging the following substances:
  • Oil and grease (engine oil, cooking oil...)
  • Wax and resin
  • Paint and solvent
  • Petroleum products
  • Pesticides of any kind
  • Septic tank additives
    Any toxic substance
  • Anything not easily degradable (e.g., coffee beans, cigarette butts, sanitary napkins, tampons, condoms)
How can you ensure effective functioning and treatment performances of your septic system?

Avoid the following actions:
  • Driving vehicles or placing objects weighing more than 225 kg (500 lb) within 5 m (16' 4’’) of your system’s lid. Inform your landscapers of these instructions.
  • Accumulating compacted snow on your septic installation. This excess weight could damage your system.
  • Covering or burying the lids of your septic system components (septic tank and Ecoflo ®).
  • Entering the Ecoflo ® unit without prior authorization after the final installation.
  • Connecting a drainage pipe, roof gutter or sump pump to your septic system.
  • Using an automatic toilet bowl cleaner.
  • Using a food shredder or a sewage pump (upstream from the septic tank).
  • Discharging backwash from a water softener.

For more details

Make sure of the following elements as well:
  • Your home must be equipped with a working air vent, and plumbing must conform to the applicable regulations from the local building code.
  • No change in the use of your home or modification to your Ecoflo ® should be made before you have obtained prior authorization from the municipality and informed Premier Tech Environment. The warranty for your Ecoflo ® will be void if this condition is not fully respected.
  • Moreover, please note that no special action needs to be taken if the system is used intermittently or if you plan on stopping it for a long period of time.
